If you are a fan of Audra McDonald you can’t miss her incredible performance as Audra becomes Billie Holiday and sounds exactly like her. It is a very sad and powerful piece. A must see!
The show is told like a cabaret show. Audra plays Billie Holiday. Circle in the Square is transformed to Emerson’s Bar and Grill in Philadelphia a place Holiday detests. It is one woman and her band and shows how badly the performer was treated in her day. She tells a story about not being allowed access to a bathroom because she was black. Audra is transformed and the show is devasting. If you like audience participation sit in tables in the center of the room and you will be part of the show.
