Danny DeVito is currently starring on Broadway in “The Price” he is playing Solomon, an old Jewish used furniture appraiser and seems to be channeling Mel Brooks from his animated cartoon “The 2000 Year Old Man” his performance is touching, funny and had me thinking about Mel Brooks.
The show is about the loss of a parent and the petty bitterness that two siblings have. The show is a must see but very tough and painful as it hit a nerve!
Danny is brilliant as it Mark Ruffalo, Tony Shaloub, and Jessica Hecht. It is playing at The Roundabout at the American Airlines Theatre. It is a meaty play that is spot on and sadly deeply depressing. See it and after turn on Mel Brooks classic “The 2000 Year Old Man” and let me know if Danny reminded you of Mel.
The play runs 2 hours and 30 minutes with enough family dysfunction to make you crave the Brady Bunch.
Let them all go to hell, except cave 76!
