Suffs Review: In The Room Where It Happened.

“HAMILTON” is the giant hit that launched Lin Manuel Miranda into stardom started at The Public. He wrote a historical musical and it became a giant hit.

Shaina Taub has followed Lin into the room where it happened, writing the book, music and lyrics as well as starring as one of the central characters. I believe she is the female Lin Manuel Miranda and this show is brilliant. She will most likely clean up at award season and hopefully the show will move to Broadway!

The story follows the women who were responsible for claiming the right to vote. They were called “Suffs” and they helped get women the right to vote. This musical was expertly put together by some very talented women!

The show is directed by Leigh Silverman and it is perfection! It also stars “Hamilton’s” Tony nominated Philippa Soo who has a beautiful voice and also Jenn Colella from “Come From Away” who is marvelous in Suffs. It is a brilliant musical and remember Taub’s name she is very talented. She wrote the book, lyrics and music and stars as one of the primary Suffs!

The show is 2 hours and 45 minutes and is one of the most exciting musicals I have ever seen.
My advice is to get your ticket before it is too late because I believe SUFFS will follow history in the room where HAMILTON became the biggest hit and everyone in the production will move to Broadway and it will be a tough ticket.
I loved everything about it. The music. The lyrics. The Direction. The Lighting. The cast. It’s a giant hit.

I was blown away by this production and can’t stop thinking about it. All the roles, are played by women and non binary.
