Roundabout Theatre company knows how to take a classic like “White Christmas” and transform the movie into a new Irving Berlin musical. This show playing at Studio 54 is a dance lover’s dream. The incredible choreography by Denis Jones is about as perfect as you can get. The very talented ensemble of dancers proves they have what it takes to make the show shine. The music by Irving Berlin are classic songs that are meant to be preserved, and I applaud Roundabout for this stunning production.
Also impressive are the gorgeous, glamorous costumes by Alejo Vieth which make the dancers look breathtaking and add much to this production. Let’s talk about the incredible dance by Hollywood star, Corbin Bleu, I adored his solo number with actual fireworks that light up as he dances.(“Let’s say it with Firecrackers”) Whenever the cast is dancing the show is impressive. As someone who adores incredible choreography I was in my happy place and I didn’t want the show to end. When you purchase tickets to the show find a show with the cast talkbacks which are very interesting and the audience can ask the cast questions about the show.
If you want to escape from the horrible news of today and want two glorious hours of fun, you won’t be disappointed by seeing “Holiday Inn” I am still smiling thinking about this spectacular musical. I could not find one thing wrong with this production. It sadly is only running until January 15 so get your tickets now. In a perfect World they would move this musical to another theatre for an open-ended run, it is that good and I plan on seeing it again.
There is a $35 dollar lottery on Today Tix and you can also purchase a membership at Roundabout to get the best ticket prices. Don’t miss it!(Some of the classic songs by Irving Berlin: “Easter Parade”. “White Christmas” “Shaking The Blues Away” this show is one to be thankful for.
4 stars. (A Corine’s must see musical)
