I saw,The Wicked Musical with Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel with music by Stephen Schwartz. I adored the original musical. On November 17th at 11.00 AM, I got to see a new film based on the musical which was very different from the original Broadway show Wicked. This film stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda the Good. The show is about how Elphie was not accepted by her parents and was always treated badly because she was green and bullied.
ELPHIE is thought of as Wicked because she is different and her own parents sent her away to be raised by a bear because she was green at birth. She goes to magic school and becomes friends with Glinda the Good Witch. The actresses sing beautifully and have great chemistry I see them as Oscar contenders during Award season.
The film is over the top with elaborate dance numbers and special effects but the score is one of my favorite shows and I liked this version more. I predict it will defy award season. There are also cameos that will delight Wicked fans. I will not spoil it.
There are some scary flying monkeys which might scare young children. Wicked is a very elaborate musical action film.
Wicked is a magnificent work of art and a must see for every musical theater fan. La la la la it will be very Popular. Get your tickets now, it opens on November 22.

The film is in two parts. Part 2 is next year. It is an epic theatrical triumph I can’t wait to see it again! See you there! I plan on buying it so I can watch this many times.
