Corine reviews “In The Heights” the film based on Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical on and Off Broadway.
My Mother loved this show and I dedicate this review in her memory as it was,one of her favorites. I took her to see it twice and she didn’t cancel. She would have loved the film.
I adored the Off-Broadway and Broadway versions and saw it once as press and bought tickets 7 other times thanks to TDF and discount clubs. I always adore live theater more than film but this film had such passion and was so well done it is a must see for the wonderful choreography and film editing as well as a beautiful and heart warming story. I also liked cameos with some original cast members Christopher Jackson who played a Mister Softee driver and Olga Merediz as Abuela. She stole the original and steals the film. The choreography blew my mind. I saw it on HBO Max but hope to see it on a larger screen in the future. It’s a blast. The film editing was especially clever. There was one dance scene where Nina and Benny dance on the walls of the apartment. Such passion. See it!
