Tonight I am grateful that
I got to see Audra McDonald at Carnegie Hall. Audra is one of the greatest performers of my lifetime and she never ceases to amaze me,with her talent. She is a triple threat a great singer, actress and a lovely person. She did not post a song list and she sang songs I didn’t expect. Some of the greats, ‘Roses Turn’ from Gypsy, ‘Dont Rain on my Parade’, ‘Summertime’ from Porgy and Bess and her finale was ‘Home’ from The Wiz.
Was, touched by her singing ‘Its not easy being Green’ a song that Kermit is known for and Audra made it hers! She is a magnificent story teller and singer and I was very touched by this concert.
If you love Audra last nights concert was as perfect as it could get. She talked about being grateful to some singers that helped pave the way, Leslie Uggams, Barbara Cook and Diahann Carroll.
I listened to Audra, Norm Lewis, Brian Stokes Mitchell during the past three years, the solitude years when Broadway shut down and I locked myself in my tiny apt for fear of getting Covid and dying. I listened to Audra every night and seeing her live last night was something to be grateful for. I won tickets to see Brian Stokes Mitchell at Lincoln Center outside and first saw Norm’s concert. After Norm played Carnegie Hall and I covered that and last night Audra. I thank Audra for her magnificent talent and for keeping me sane during the Covid years. Grateful to review from Row,W, orchestra.
This is Corine back from Carnegie Hall. It was a concert to see and I had the time of my life. Audra is now on Broadway in a play called ‘Ohio State Murders.’ Hope to see it but seeing her concert was like a giant sundae of the best ice cream pure and perfection. Her voice heals me and for that I am grateful and happy. If you want to heal go to Spotify and Amazon music and play her music every chance you get and you will understand.
Audra’s concert was a night I will cherish for the rest of my life. Be kind to each other was her message. Spread love not hate. I loved her concert and her message.
