DRG records a new CD for Forbidden Broadway.

DRG records has released a new CD of “Forbidden Broadway Comes Out Swinging” the incredible show that played this season OFF-Broadway

The CD of this new version of Forbidden Broadway is one of the funniest yet. Some of my favorite numbers are: Mia Gentile singing ” Let it Blow” doing a parody of Frozen’s ” Let It Go” (which was written by Theater great Bobby Lopez) Marcus Stevens does a hilarious parody of Jason Robert Brown and the Bridges number is side splitting funny. The Matilda number is really a riot as well. The whole CD captures the entire show of Comes Out Swinging and is a must for any broadway fan and especially for Forbidden Broadway fans.

This CD will make you laugh out loud and it will have to do until Forbidden Broadway comes back with a new edition. This version is one of the funniest of all and you can get your own copy and listen to it in the comfort of your home. A must buy! Read my review below:

Forbidden Broadway in my opinion is a love letter to the great white way. It is also satire at it’s finest incarnation and for critics of theatre it is the show that keeps on giving. As someone who lives and breathes theatre it is my favorite show every season. Why? I get to relive the good, the bad and the very funny things that make each season unique.

Gerard Alessandrini and Phillip George eat, breathe and devour theatre. It is that passion that makes Forbidden Broadway magical. It is also the talented cast who can magically transform into our favorite Broadway stars and grab your attention showing the best and the worst of each season.

Mia Gentile who was originally cast as the understudy is a shining star this season. Her gorgeous voice is captivating and pure and she sounds exactly like Laura Osnes singing Cinderella in a gorgeous glittery gown and can also belt like Idina Menzel singing a parody of “Let it Go” (Frozen) Her stunning range is brilliant in such a short time on the stage. At the opening night the screaming and clapping for her Idina Menzel or should we say Adele Dazeem was truly special. She almost knocked the roof down!

Marcus Stevens who was also in ” Alive and Kickng” never ceases to amaze me with his talents. He can capture Mandy Patinkin and then do a killer Ms.. Trunbull from Matilda as well as capture Woody Allen and Harvey Fierstein. My new favorite number though was when he plays Jason Robert Brown in a parody of ” The Bridges of Madison County.” He is side spitting funny. He cracks me up.

Scott Richard Foster has an incredible voice and sounds exactly like Sly Stallone in a funny number about Rocky and Carter Calvert does an incredible Liza and Kelli O’hara impersonation and a stellar spot on Cyndi Lauper.

Forbidden Broadway is a gem that needs to be cherished. It has really come a long way since the start of previews and it is a must see for people that love Broadway because you can relive the season in 1 hour and 45 minutes. For people that don’t see everything Forbidden Broadway is a great introduction and you can see all the seasons great shows for one ticket price. You will however get all the inside jokes if you see everything. A must for theatre lovers!
