Review: The Jersey Boys Film.

When Jersey Boys opened on Broadway it won several Tony Awards now the people that brought you the Broadway Show launched the Warner Bros film with Tony Award winner John Lloyd Young and Donnie Kehr who were in the show on Broadway. ( Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio are also producers of the film  with Warner Bros)

. Walk Like A Man, Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry were all great songs sung by a great band and great singers ( The Four Seasons). When JLY and company are singing the film is great. When we meet Bob Gaudio played by ( Erich Bergen) the film seems to take off. Clint Eastwood’s direction is darker then the Broadway musical but it still entertains.

The Movie spends a lot of time showing the bands ties to the mafia and it is almost Goodfella’s meets the Four Seasons. It seems to be much heavier then the Broadway musical which was all about the music and less about the back story. I never knew about the Four Seasons until I saw the Broadway musical in 2006 and since then I can’t get enough. I saw the show twice and have already seen the film twice. If you love the music of the Four Seasons you must see this film but please also see it on Broadway.
